Welcome to Cairns Tropical Pride 2012
18 August - 2 September 2012
Cairns Tropical Pride Festival is an annual event for the lesbian, gay, bisexual, transgender and queer (LGBTQ) community of Cairns and Far North Queensland, as well as their families and friends, to celebrate the diversity of our region and connect with the wider community. Thousands of people attend the highlight of the Festival - Fair Day.
2012 marked the sixth annversary of this popular and fast-growing event, which is destined to become a leading national event in the LGBTQ calendar. The festival's winter timing fits in with the most idyllic time to visit Tropical North Queensland: whilst the southerners are finding it a bit chilly and are dreaming of a warm, tropical getaway, Cairns is usually a pleasant 25°C during the day, making the Cairns Tropical Pride festivities a desirable holiday experience for lesbian, gay, bisexual, transgender and queer people from around the country.
This year, the festival consisted of five major events:

Also, a major conference was be held in conjunction with this year's festival:
Queensland Transgender, Sistergirl and Gender Diverse Conference - Friday & Saturday, 24th & 25th August
The conference was a partnership between Queensland Association of Healthy Communities, 2 Spirits, Cairns Sexual Health Service and the University of Queensland, in consultation with the Queensland transgender, sistergirl and gender diverse communities.

DJ Been and friends will be providing fruity and juicy tunes full of goodness, with the fabulous Jamilla iLash returning to the stage for shows at 10:30 pm and midnight!

Australia's leading gay publication, DNA Magazine, is proud to present SPLASH – The Cairns Tropical Pride Pool Party! Come and get wet in the tropics with Guest DJs Dan Murphy and Adam Love, and local DJ Been, with a sexy swimwear parade including the winner and finalists of the GayCairns search!
Brought to you by Out! Cairns and GayCairns as an official Cairns Tropical Pride event, North Queensland has never seen anything like this. Join us on Saturday 25th August at the Pool Deck at the Pullman Reef Hotel Casino from 2-9pm. The Massage Guy will be on board to deliver massage sessions for a gold coin donation for Cairns Tropical Pride. Canapes will be served throughout the day, and all guests will receive an exclusive DNA goodies bag.
